Residence Le Reve

I've traveled a lot for 15 years, and I've never stayed somewhere this badly kept. The place was disgusting, dirty, and nothing like the advertisement. There was severe water damage on the ceiling. The heating didn't work properly, so the windows had bad condensation and there was mold in the bathroom. The room hadn't been cleaned well: sticky fingerprints everywhere, rusty keys on the bathroom shelf, a dirty stained couch, and filthy remotes with no batteries. The towels were dirty and stained, there was a terrible smell from the bathroom drain, cabinets were broken and had no handles, and half the light bulbs were out. The narrow staircase was cluttered with things, including dirty Kleenex that stayed there for days. The advertised terrace with tables and chairs wasn't there. Instead, there was a dirty area where a dog was chained outside day and night. The dog was friendly, though, and honestly the most welcoming thing about the place. We moved to another property because it was so bad. I have asthma, and being in a moldy room is dangerous for me. We contacted our booking platform to ask for a refund. The owner or boss, I'm not sure which, was extremely arrogant and unhelpful, and refused. While we were still paying for the room and hadn't checked out, they went in, started defrosting the fridge, and left its door wide open with water all over the floor. We were shocked. I strongly don't recommend this property. There are plenty of other good places in Istanbul, so don't waste your money here.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the place was fairly clean. That's all I can say in its favor. The rooms need serious refurbishment. Some windows won't open, while others won't close. It's also very noisy because the hotel is near a steep road. At night you constantly hear engines roaring as vehicles try to climb the hill.

The penthouse has an amazing view, with another terrace on the rooftop and a 360-degree panorama. The location is great too. The lift can only carry up to 100 kg, though. I think the rooms and service could be better with a bit more attention.

The room is basic, and an upper floor might be a better choice. The staff are professional and friendly. You're right in the heart of Taksim, which lets you get a feel for everyday Turkish life. I definitely recommend it.
