Rixos Tersane Istanbul

The setting at Rixos Tersane Istanbul is stunning. Our room was spacious and elegant, kept immaculate, with a breathtaking view and top-quality bedding. Barkin was especially kind and helpful, always attentive, and his smile made us feel welcome. People like him turn a good stay into a memorable one. The service throughout Rixos Astorsan was warm, professional, and attentive, and breakfast was among the best we’ve had: so much variety, all fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. We enjoyed every moment and will definitely return. Highly recommended!

Breakfast was a real highlight, with an excellent selection, beautiful displays, and a lovely view over the water. Younes served us one morning and was hospitable, friendly, smiling, and very good at English. We’d love to see more Middle Eastern choices such as foul, falafel, hummus, arayes, and other Arabic dishes, as Asian cuisine is represented. It would make breakfast more inclusive and enjoyable for guests from the region. Our seven-night stay at Rixos Tersana Istanbul was pleasant overall. We had a spacious, comfortable Premium Room with a partial river view, and the location and Tersana atmosphere were lovely, with lots of energy and nice restaurants nearby. The hotel’s own dining options, though, felt limited and expensive. Housekeeping could be better, especially deeper cleaning of the toilets. At this room rate, we expected a more luxurious in-room experience. Complimentary parking, fruit, sweets or nuts, or evening turndown would have brought it closer to what we’ve had at other luxury hotels. The room was generally clean. On the fifth day, after extending our stay, there was confusion about whether breakfast was included. One server handled it poorly and seemed aggressive, but manager Ms. Shaima resolved it professionally and kindly provided breakfast at no charge. Leila from concierge was accommodating too, and made sure we were looked after. Thank you both, and the management, for handling it well. Requests for pillows, blankets, and water arrived in around 30 minutes, which we appreciated. Emmanuel also helped with the in-room amenities after several requests. The hotel has a beautiful atmosphere, great location, spacious rooms, good breakfast, and a family-friendly feel. Better housekeeping, more included luxury touches, and more Middle Eastern breakfast options would make it feel more in line with its premium price.

The building is beautiful, the facilities are impressive, and the location is great. But across two stays, the service kept disappointing us. Basic requests took a long time, housekeeping came into the room without permission, and things we asked for were ignored for hours. Staff even interrupted a business Zoom call over a minor charge. During housekeeping, my custom orthodontic aligner accessories were thrown away, so she couldn’t continue treatment while we were traveling. We gave the hotel another chance and returned a week later. At checkout, it charged a payment card without my knowledge or authorization instead of settling the balance against the deposit already held. That’s unacceptable. Many employees seemed unable to communicate in basic English. Requests were often forgotten or ignored, and staff showed little friendliness, accountability, or willingness to resolve problems. For a hotel presented as a luxury five-star property, the service fell far short. The building deserves five stars, but the service doesn’t.
