Sultans Hotel

I’ve stayed here twice. The rooms are nice and roomy, but the bathroom’s tiny, the air conditioning in my room didn’t work well, and the fridge wouldn’t keep my drinks cold. It’s a decent place to stay, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

The front desk gentleman was consistently kind and helpful, and we really appreciated how warmly he welcomed us. When we went to Cappadocia after our first two days, the hotel kept our luggage safe until we came back for another stay. We were there for five days altogether. The location is great, very close to the Blue Mosque, and our room was clean with a comfortable bed and a mini fridge. For the price, it’s a great deal. I honestly have no complaints and would recommend it.

I returned about six months later, and the staff were just as trustworthy, respectful, and consistent as before. The room was again very clean. Now that I know the area, I can say there’s a bus within walking distance, though I booked a taxi on departure day because it was raining. On my first visit, getting to and from the airport meant taking a taxi unless I wanted to haul a heavy checked bag up a steep 1.1 km cobblestone path to the havaist station. I’ve changed my rating from four stars to five.

Aziz was a fantastic host and helped us with every question. The hotel is within walking distance of lots of great places, and the room had everything my wife and I needed. We’d definitely return. The rooms are a bit small, though I didn’t come to Istanbul to sit in one. The stairs aren’t suitable for people with mobility issues, and anyone hoping for a quiet night might not enjoy the 0615 call to prayer.
