Taksim Doorway Suites

The room was cute and quaint, and it was cleaned twice during our four-night stay, which impressed us. My friend and I are both women in our twenties, and we felt safe at Taksim Doorway Suites. The hill up to the hotel was the worst part. It’s very steep and rough with big luggage. If you’re on a budget, there are some well-priced places with good food on the way up to Taksim Square. We didn’t find those prices up the hill around the square itself. The first two nights, the Wi-Fi was out and the A/C wasn’t working. We barely saw the front desk staff, who seemed to show up at odd times. Once, when my friend and I needed to quickly grab something from our room, we brought our gay male friend along. A worker suddenly appeared as we headed downstairs and stopped us from going in, saying, “we only paid for two people to stay here.” Yet when we needed Wi-Fi or working air conditioning, the staff were impossible to find.

The people were really friendly and always willing to help, and there’s all kinds of accommodation on the street. I was happy with the location, only five minutes from Taksim square. When I lost my luggage at the airport, they did everything they could to help me get it back. They also provide corona tests. I was happy with my stay and recommend it.

For a short, low-cost stay near nice areas, this modern-looking hotel is a pretty good choice. It’s a short walk from Taksim square, with other pleasant spots nearby, but the immediate area isn’t crowded. The staff were hard to catch. There’s a 95% chance nobody will be in the lobby when you need something, though they usually answer the phone. At checkout, nobody was there and nobody picked up, but someone showed up about 10 minutes later. My A/C didn’t work the first night, then they fixed it for the second. The shower was broken too. We told them it needed repair, but nothing was done.

They even gave me a ride to the Havabus, which I really appreciated. I had such a lovely welcome at Taksim Doorway, and the kindness made me feel like family.
