Taksim Pera Orient Hotel

The only downside for us was the area, which felt a bit dodgy, though the hotel is really close to Taksim square, around 3 min. The view was amazing, and the room was more modern and cleaner than we expected, with a modern bathroom and rain shower. The staff were really nice, especially Khadir. I’d definitely return. Good value for money.

The room was stunning and very modern, and each evening we had an amazing view of the local mosque and sunset. The hotel is on a little backroad in taksim, full of life and character. Staff were super friendly and greeted us with smiles every morning. I highly recommend this lovely hotel, and will definitely be back next time I’m in istanbul!

The toilet kept running all night, so we couldn’t sleep. Our basement room looked onto a wall and had a bunch of noise from staff areas. The hotel felt outdated and dirty, and we even found hair on the pillows. The floor was so sticky we were disgusted to walk on it. The hair dryer didn’t work. The small showerhead was broken, and the large one flooded the bathroom because the drain was clogged. The night receptionist was asleep during his shift. The street it’s on was ugly too. This was incredibly overpriced for such low quality. Not recommended!

I believe housekeeping stole my belongings. Whether I put them in the safe or leave them in my room, both should be equally safe. Leaving valuables outside the safe is no justification for this. The staff were disrespectful and unprofessional. The incident is taped and confirms the theft, but the manager refuses to offer any help. It’s a very unsafe place to stay.
