The terrace view is very good, and there was hot water. The location was good too, though the hills nearby mean you need to be prepared for a climb. But the stay was horrible. The rooms and toilet were dirty, the sheets were dirty, and there were holes in the windows. The AC didn't work and we were freezing. A dirty blanket in the wardrobe didn't help, and there was no internet. We paid for six nights, but after the first night we were begging to leave. We hadn't slept because it was so cold, and couldn't work without internet. When we tried to change the booking dates, the administration said we were lying. After hours of talking, he kept 100€ and let us go. The terrace door wouldn't close, so you had to hold it or it would fly open. Avoid this place.

The hotel we booked was called "Otantik Taksim Hotel," but the name on the front of the place was "Taksim 52 Hotel." The photos on booking.com looked completely different from what we found. The walls had mold and stains, as did the sheets, blankets, and towels. The bedroom and kitchen windows had holes, wouldn't close, and had no handles. In the bathroom, the shower had no sliding door, and the sewer was visible because it wasn't covered. The location was okay, but the road was very narrow and steep. Our taxi slid trying to climb it, then eventually made it, and the driver said we'd taken a different route. We wanted to stay one night and leave the next day before the cutoff for paying a second night. The place was so awful that we didn't want to stay longer. We offered to pay for the night we used and keep the rest of our money, without asking for compensation over the misleading photos. They demanded payment for two nights plus a strange 90€ tax, saying it was final and we couldn't refuse the tax. We were angry about that. They dragged things out, and it felt like they were waiting for us to give up and leave so they could keep the money without consequences. We called the police and asked the owner to come. The owner, the same man who checked us in the night before, arrived first, then tried to leave, saying, "I'm not required to stay here." We managed to keep him there until the police arrived. The police discussion ended with an agreement that they would return some money, though not the amount we thought fair. We agreed to pay for the one night we'd stayed, because we wanted to be fair and weren't asking for money we hadn't spent. They had wanted to charge us more, and with the police we managed to get at least the minimum back, though we weren't happy with it. We also wanted to make a police report for theft, fake advertising, and against the owner for not fixing the situation. We were told we could either take the money or spend another six hours at the police station. It was already around 19:00, and after an extremely stressful day we took the money and lost the whole day. The owner wasn't at reception that day, 15.02.2026, though he had been there for our check-in the night before. The staff work shifts, so the person at reception changes. When we called the police with the receptionist on duty, he called the owner and then yelled at him in Turkish over the phone. I have an update: we thought everything had been settled with the police, but booking.com later messaged to say the owner reported that we hadn't shown up and that we had to pay a fee. booking.com didn't help us. We called three operators. They tried calling reception, but no one answered. They filed complaints and emailed the owner, who seemed to respond only to messages and emails. The first operator complained about photos that didn't match the property. The second told us not to leave until we got our money. The third said to settle it with reception and that we could leave if we wanted. When we asked whether the hotel would be penalized or removed from the site, they didn't answer. I'm very disappointed with booking.com. They didn't consider our safety or resolve the issue, and instead asked us to pay because the owner said we "did not show up at the location."

The room was old and dirty, and it seemed like everything was falling apart. The bed smelled, the towels were dirty, and fungus covered the ceiling and other areas. They also refused card payment and would only take cash. I definitely won't return.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel. It was disorganized and dirty, the furniture was in bad shape, and we had to ask for basics like towels. I won't go into all the details.

The rooms were awful, cleanliness was poor, and there was no room service. The WiFi was useless, and basic amenities were missing. Don't go there.
