The Fox Hotels

Breakfast was great, the staff were pleasant, and they even served us at the table after breakfast hours had ended. The bed was very comfortable, the pillows were medium and fine for my neck, and the WiFi was fast enough with a stable connection. Our arrival was disappointing. We had booked a 26 m2 standard room but were given a room with no windows, no more than 12 m2. We were upset, but since we arrived after midnight and it was the only room left, we decided to stay until morning. After our first night and a strong complaint, the manager moved us to a great room with three windows, which we loved. Good that they responded to the customer’s needs. If you’re planning to stay here, I’d suggest choosing the next category up from standard and avoiding the first floor.

We stayed here with our three young children from December 18 to December 25, 2025. The area is very rough, and I found the location description misleading. The steep walk to the main road and toward Taksim metro station can leave you with a backache. It’s especially hard with children, and not suitable for a pushchair: cars keep coming down the hill, while the side paths are full of obstacles. My wife didn’t feel safe walking back to the hotel in the evening. They should clearly say the hotel isn’t suitable for families, wheelchair users, or older people. The chef was very rude. Even after we asked several times, he wouldn’t toast our bread, and they put it in the microwave, which made it worse. Breakfast had nothing but eggs for seven straight days. At checkout around 6 a.m., while our taxi driver was waiting, we were pressured to pay €20 for two small towels. They were dirty, as they had been for about four days. I said I could post them back from London when I got home, which would be cheaper, but they wouldn’t listen. The same towels cost £1 here at Tesco or Asda. They only brought up the charge at checkout, so take your own towels to avoid surprises.

The Sudanese host Ahmad was really friendly and a very good person. Unfortunately, the rest of my experience was unpleasant. I noticed two small blood stains on the bedsheet and immediately offered to pay for the cover. The manager responded rudely and unprofessionally, and the housekeeper spoke loudly in Turkish, which made me even more uncomfortable. Accidents happen, but I found the way they treated me unacceptable. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who expects basic respect and courtesy.
