The one good thing was that the staff were friendly and polite. Everything else disappointed me. The dark colors made the hotel feel gloomy, and the rooms and shared areas were dirty, old, and poorly maintained. Breakfast was limited and didn’t seem fresh, and there weren’t many facilities. At this price, I really can’t recommend it. It’s not worth it.
The view from our room on the 8th floor was breathtaking, and the staff were genuinely welcoming and helpful whenever we needed anything. The location was excellent too. But the room itself didn’t match that view, so look closely at the photos before booking. The hotel is basically okay, but it’s dated and nowhere near as modern as the website and booking photos suggest. The room was a disaster. The bathroom was so small I had to squeeze into a corner to shut the door. The shower and sink were badly calcified, the shower head couldn’t be moved, and the water control handle came off. It hadn’t been cleaned properly, the door never shut all the way, and the wooden strip above it fell off whenever we tried to close it. The new-looking air conditioner had been fitted without properly plastering the wall, making the room feel unfinished and careless. The mattress was dirty, and we suspected there might be bed bugs. One morning we also found a pile of ants in the room. The spa wasn’t much better: it smelled unpleasant, the sauna was far too cold, the Turkish bath much too hot, and the jacuzzi was cold and a little disgusting. Breakfast was unimpressive, with little variety. There was no cheese or cold cuts, only a few spreads, some salad, scrambled eggs, and sucuk (Turkish sausage). The bread selection was poor too, and the small dining room got crowded quickly. There’s a nice rooftop terrace, but we weren’t allowed to take our dishes up there, which was a shame.
The room was clean, and breakfast was average, about what you’d expect from a standard 3-star hotel. The location was convenient, just a short walk from Taksim and the metro and bus stations, though the walk uphill from the bus stop was steep, if manageable. My spouse and I stayed at Tulip City Hotel for a week last week, and several problems made the visit unpleasant. There was no in-room safe. I asked reception every morning and evening for four days to bring one, and they finally did after a heated complaint on the last day. It was broken and unusable. Drinking water wasn’t regularly restocked, so we had to get it ourselves from the back area. Every morning around 4 AM, staff made loud banging noises in the emergency stairwell on our floor, which was already under construction. They also talked and laughed loudly, waking us each day, and we couldn’t get back to sleep. The room was very small, and the toilet was broken too. I don’t recommend this hotel. It didn’t provide even the basic comfort and responsiveness I’d expect from a 3-star place, and we’ll stay elsewhere next time.
A disgrace. We came to this hotel to rest, but at 7:30 AM on a Sunday staff woke us by shouting private conversations in the hallways and slamming doors over and over. The noise felt like they were right inside our room. I’ve never seen a place show so little respect for guests’ need to rest. The team was completely unprofessional. If you want peace, don’t come here. You’ll pay to be miserable. A business in a tourism area like this is letting an investment in a huge hotel go to waste because its employees act without awareness. What a shame!
Payam was really kind and did a great job. The bathroom, though, was tiny and had a lot of mold.
