Viva Hotel

I'd been fooled by the positive Booking reviews, but they won't refund what I paid, and I think those good reviews are inflated. The room was cold and damp, with a dirty bed, noise, a low ceiling, and a small window. When I switched on the air conditioner, the room filled with a smoky cigarette smell. I came to Istanbul to see the city as a tourist, but instead I feel deceived and won't come back. This was the most terrible hotel of my life. I don't recommend it. Even if it's the only option in the city, stay somewhere outside!

For a good price, the service was reasonable. The staff were professional, helpful, and accommodating. Breakfast was freshly made and good. Everyday essentials are just across the street, and good food and bakeries are an easy walk away.

The bed looked clean, though the bathroom seemed dirty. At 20 euros a night with reception open 24/7, I can live with that. I still wouldn't return unless I had to.

Price was my main reason for choosing this place among so many options. For a leisure trip to Istanbul it would probably feel quite uncomfortable, but it was good value for what I needed. I just wanted somewhere to sleep overnight, and the hotel suited that purpose well.
