Badu Boutique Hotel

Hasan and his wife, Bahar, are lovely owners who greeted our needs with a smile every time. My wife and I had come to Izmir and weren't sure how hard it would be to find somewhere in the city center, then we happened upon this hotel. It really feels like a family place. We’re grateful for the hospitality, and glad we won’t have to search for a hotel again on our next visit. Thanks so much.

The receptionists told us the hotel had just opened, and they were kind and polite during our one-night stay. They also said they would address the issues we raised, so I think things could improve. Right now, though, there are serious shortcomings for a boutique hotel. It’s an old apartment building renovated inside and out as a guesthouse-style hotel. The standard rooms are quite small, with little space beyond the bed, and no closets. The supplies weren’t consistent: in a double room there might be two bath towels but only one hand towel, or two shower gels but just one shampoo. There was a kettle but no glasses, and missing items weren’t replaced before the next guest arrived. The bathrooms in two of our rooms leaked all over, while one other room had a leak. It works for a night’s sleep and a quick start in the morning, but I wouldn’t choose it to spend even a few hours in the room.

We couldn’t stay the first night, even though we’d already paid, and the place didn’t feel safe at all. There was a bad smell, the toilet was broken, and the hotel looked nothing like the photos. There’s no elevator, so you have to haul your luggage up the stairs yourself.
