Ege Palas Business Hotel

I can't recommend this hotel. The rooms, even the sheets and pillows, smelled strongly of smoke. I'm asthmatic and needed my inhaler before bed because of the smell. Reception was kind enough to move us after I complained, but the second room had the same problem. On the side of the terrace, I found a plastic bag full of old cigarette butts and ash that looked like it had been there for ages. Disgusting. The place feels worn out, like it may once have been good but hasn't been updated in years. The facilities seem to be falling apart, and the air conditioning is extremely noisy. Unless you're addicted to smoking, I'd avoid staying here.

The hotel’s location is excellent, and you really can’t beat it. The rooms are showing their age, but I don’t think that alone warrants a low rating. The overwhelming sewer smell seemed to be a problem across İzmir city center rather than the hotel itself, though I wanted to warn future visitors about it. We didn’t go out at night, but I imagine the nightlife is good. One highlight was dinner at Tavacı Recep, which was fantastic. There were a few positives, but İzmir isn’t somewhere I plan to visit again soon.

The location is a real plus. The beach is a short walk away, with restaurants, bars, and shops nearby. Staff were polite and respectful, room service was good, and the woman who cleaned our room was friendly, patient, and thorough. Our room felt airy and comfortable, with plenty of space and light. The bathroom was large, well equipped, and very clean. Breakfast had a decent range of choices, and the dining area looked out over the pool and sea. A great place to stay for comfort, service, and location.

The view was awesome, but the rooms are old. There was a disgusting smell coming from the bathroom into the room, absolutely unacceptable. It definitely needed to be addressed.
