I tried pricier places in Izmir, but this one was still worth the money. It’s close to the city attractions, and when I stayed here for two nights about six years ago, I found it lovely, quiet, and very nice.

We came to Izmir for medical treatment and picked Tanik-Hotel for its central spot, near Kemeralti Bazaar and about a 10-minute walk from the pier. The breakfast buffet was great, and the place was clean and quiet. Prices felt fair, too. Everyone on staff, from reception to the cleaners, was kind and gentle. If you’re visiting beautiful Izmir and don’t need a five-star luxury suite, Tanik-Hotel is worth a try.

After a rough start to our holiday at another hotel, Gökçe greeted us with a smile here and immediately helped us feel at ease. She was wonderful, and the whole team kept the service friendly throughout our three-week stay. It felt like home, and the rest of the holiday went smoothly. We absolutely loved the place and will be back 💯♥️

Our room was spacious and clean, and breakfast was pretty good. The location also works well, between the Basmane and cankaya metro stations. Best of all, when we realized at the airport that we’d left our glasses behind, the lovely woman at reception sent them there by taxi. Amazing staff and five-star service.

The staff were rude and racist, and treated us as if we were staying for free. That was the worst part of a stay that disappointed me in every way. The rooms had no light, and when I asked if anything could be done, they said that was just how the hotel was. There were cigarette smells everywhere, and the WiFi, rooms, and orientation were all bad. Breakfast was awful too. I was honestly surprised by the positive reviews, though I think many of them may be fake. I don't recommend it at all.
