Kuluhana Hotel & Villas Kalkan

A minute from the beach, with lots of water activities and a good setup for families with children. The hotel room had a sea view, and the owner was caring. Administrator Furkan was just amazing. Mahal and Castle are two great restaurants about a five-minute walk away. My warmest recommendation.

The staff were so attentive that they even made breakfast early for us before our morning hike. We felt at home from the start, greeted by a smiling manager with homemade lemonade. The hotel was empty while my dad and I were there, which may explain the €45 rate, the best price in town. We had a cosy, pink-decorated budget room. My request for a twin room wasn’t available at that same price, but the room we got was good. Sunset views were spectacular, and the sea was crystal clear for swimming. Dinner was priced at 75 Lira for a 50 cl Efes beer, and with no other customers eating in the restaurant, we chose to eat downtown instead. It was a 40-minute walk or an affordable seven-minute taxi ride. A relaxing, comfortable stay, thanks!

We came from the west coast of America and had a wonderful time in Kisla/Kalkan and the surrounding area, as well as in Istanbul. Kuluhana is across the bay from Kalkan, the busier British holiday town, but it gives you access to everything there while Kisla itself feels calmer. Taxis and the local ferry make getting to Kalkan easy. There’s a lovely beach area and a couple of bars and restaurants run by local hotels, making Kisla a great alternative base. The hotel is a minute or two from the beach and has its own pool. New owner Ozlem was a welcoming, very kind host, as was her husband. Our Penthouse had amazing bay views, although the west-facing balcony was too hot to enjoy much during peak sun. Mornings and evenings were much more comfortable. The restaurant serves traditional Turkish breakfast and dinner. We were their first vegan guests, which is less common in Turkey, and the chef made us four different vegan meals. They were creative, delicious and generous portions, and we really appreciated the effort. We suggested keeping them on the menu, since surely more vegan guests will stay there. As Kuluhana gets through its first holiday season of 2022, we’re confident it’ll become one of, if not the best place to stay in Kisla. Thanks from all the way over in Portland, Oregon!

A great little place, about 45 seconds from the beach in flip-flops. We’ve been staying nearby and have come back here all week for the friendly staff, seaside bar, good breakfasts and decent WiFi. It’s perfect for a digital nomad. Great location.
