The lack of an elevator is understandable for the price, and breakfast is included. On my third stay, after visits in 2023, 2025, and 2026, Hotel Kafkasya is still my go-to in Kars. It’s one of the city’s cheapest hotels, but the service is really good. The location is right in the center and very close to Kars Train Station, about a 15-minute walk if you arrive by train. Staff can communicate in English, which helps a lot. I paid 900 TL for a double bed room with breakfast, and it was totally worth it. Sharing with a friend makes it even more budget-friendly. Highly recommended for a short visit or a simple place to rest in Kars.

Welcome to Kafkasya Hotel! I’m deeply grateful to the owner, Mr Bulent, for his warm, kind hospitality, and to his nephew Altan for all his support and kind-heartedness. Altan is a handsome young guy who speaks good English, which is exceptional in Kars.

The single rooms face away from the street, so they’re very quiet. The staff are young and friendly, and I’d happily stay again. The location is very central, with sights and hundreds of restaurants and cafes within walking distance. The price for a room with a bathroom was very decent, and breakfast was included, though it’s basic and served at a nearby cafe. Totally recommended!

The room was semi-dark because two of the light bulbs weren’t working. I’ve been to over 30 countries and stayed in over 100 hotels, and I rarely write reviews, but my clothes were half wet and I had to continue my trip. I thought this was a great hotel until I handed over my clothes to be washed and dried. It was supposed to take almost the same day, but some items were left wet, so I set off on my trip the next day in damp clothes. I’ll return to your city, but not to your hotel.

There are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby, and the castle is around a 20-minute walk away. The rooms are simple and the location is decent. One of the staff spoke good English and was a real help with my onward travel. Thanks.
