Flower Pension Hotel

I stayed at Flower Pension the night before setting out on the Lycian Way. Bekir was eager to help from the start: he sent WhatsApp directions for getting there by minibus from Antalya, then picked me up at the bus station, just a three-minute drive away. He also shared useful route tips for the next morning, when I was heading to Patara ancient ruins. Dinner was delicious, with fish Bekir grilled himself. The pension has a long history, Bekir's father opened it in the late 70s, and you can meet his friendly family, who have decades of hospitality experience. Since I was camping in my tent for the next nights, Bekir gave me a gas canister for free, left behind by past guests before their flight home. That was a big help. In the days after, I met several hikers who'd stayed at Flower Pension, and everyone loved it. For good reason. Bekir, the owner of Flower Pension, is an ideal hotelier. He's very friendly, outgoing, and genuinely attentive to guests. He grew up in the hotel, so his English is nearly flawless, and helping people seems second nature to him. My friend and I were walking the Lycian Way, and Bekir picked us up at the end of the trail so we could avoid walking through Patara's many greenhouses. He chatted with us and answered our questions about the area, the visitors, and the weather to expect. Why read about it online when you can have a conversation? It's a two-star hotel, so the shower isn't flawless and the sheets were a bit scratchy, but I had to look hard to find those minor flaws. The dinners were tasty: fish one night, a fantastic casserole another, then a chicken, lamb, and beef grill. Breakfasts were good too. There's a bookcase of books to borrow in many languages, the kind you want after hiking, neither too literary nor trash. The hotel is just down the road from the Patara Roman ruins, about a fifteen-minute walk.

The setting was so peaceful and green, yet the village centre was an easy short walk away, and breakfast was excellent. Since the hotel was fuller than expected, we were upgraded to a villa with a pool. It had loads of indoor and outdoor space, plus a really comfortable bed, sofa, and terrace sunbeds. We had a lovely three-night stay and are grateful to our kind, generous host.

Bekir, the owner, was especially welcoming and helpful, and everyone else on staff was friendly too. The food was a highlight: we had delicious dinners there both nights, and breakfast was generous and very good. We spent two nights here while hiking the Lycian Way, and it was our favorite stop so far. Nothing fancy, but clean, comfortable, and quiet. We'd happily stay again.
