Kaliptus Hotel

We rented two rooms. On the first night, there were bedbugs in one of them. They bit my in-laws, and blood from the crushed bugs got everywhere. My mother-in-law was bitten on the eyelid, which became badly swollen over the following days. The hotel moved them to another room but refused any compensation. When I tried to discuss it with the manager, he suddenly stopped speaking English and acted as if he didn’t understand me. They claimed there had never been bedbugs before and said the previous guests must have brought them in. Even if that were true, it would mean the rooms weren’t being cleaned properly after guests. They refused to refund us for that night and said to take it up with Booking. Customer support told us the hotel should issue the refund, and Booking is investigating them over this. Over the next few days, we saw staff coming and going from the room with cleaning products, trying to get rid of the bedbugs. By the standards, they should have thrown out the mattresses and sheets and disinfected the whole hotel. There are also lots of mice around the property. Cats catch them and leave them in pieces near the rooms and elsewhere on the grounds. That suggests unsanitary conditions with rodents as well as bedbugs. The rooms are cramped, with small windows or views into the hotel, so you either sit in a stuffy room or have the neighbors looking in. Things in our room were broken. We asked them to fix the shower door, but it broke again the next day. The pool was the only bright spot, and I can’t recommend a stay with bedbugs to anyone.
