Viking Garden Hotel

The spa treatments were amazing. Anes, Ahmed and Faysal were so helpful and kind, and went out of their way to make our time there wonderful. I loved the hammam, massage and fish pedicure. Thanks to all three of them. Our family room was provided, but after a certain time every day there was a strong, disgusting gutter smell. We asked to move, but the room offered was smaller and unsuitable for us. The staff didn't seem welcoming and often looked upset. On the plus side, the food wasn't too bad, the location is decent, and the pools were okay. Mojitos cost extra, the beds were low quality, and the main pool had no jacuzzi, which was a big letdown. The kids' room needs better hours. I wouldn't call this a four-star hotel. I'd give it three stars.

The location is convenient, within walking distance of the busy town centre and some good restaurants and bars. Still, after staying at Viking Star down the road a year ago, I found Viking Garden extremely disappointing and poor value. I'd pay a little more to stay somewhere better, and won't spend another holiday here. The rooms are small and worn, and the drains stink up the place. The shower drain was so blocked that I had to turn off the water, soap up, then rinse quickly before it overflowed into the rest of the room. The shower corners and screen edges had black "stuff" from poor cleaning. If you get towels, guard them: they were removed without replacements, and reception took many visits to ask before providing new ones. The duvet and cover had filthy brown, crusty biological matter on them. I didn't investigate what it was. Instead of a clean sheet to use, they gave us a duvet cover without a duvet. The balcony was barely big enough for a couple of toddlers, and very cramped for anyone larger. Food was bland, poor quality, and barely changed day to day, with a strong focus on Russian tastes. If you speak Russian, you'll also find grainy TV channels. Entertainment had the same Russian slant. All-inclusive drinks were an abysmal, limited selection, with ice only if you were lucky. Anything beyond gin or vodka with draft soda cost extra, and the staff seemed annoyed to serve it. They might also point out how empty the tip jar was. WiFi was free only at reception. For about €2.25 per day per guest, you could use one device in your room and around the hotel, but it was painfully slow. Staff were quick to chase payment, though I wish they were as prompt about clean towels and bedding.

Awful stay. The room wasn't clean, the staff were very unfriendly, and the area was often noisy. I wouldn't go back even if they paid me to stay the night.

The room view was nice and the surroundings were quiet. It's a clean, pleasant place, and the staff are very helpful. Food was tasty and good. The room itself wasn't cleaned very well, though. WiFi costs extra in the rooms, and is free only in the lobby.
