I spent a pleasant week at L'oceanica in late October. It’s a budget, family-oriented hotel that offers many five-star features, but at four-star quality. Anyone used to premium five-star hotels will notice the difference. Still, the value worked for me, and a week in the off season can be comfortable and affordable if you set your expectations accordingly. Camyuva is a budget area of Kemer with few top hotels or entertainment choices. The staff were generally attentive, friendly, and accommodating. Front desk ladies Yagmur and Cholpon were especially courteous and tried to handle my requests. The hotel isn’t on the beach, but it’s a two- to three-minute walk to a private, spacious, well-kept stretch, where the beach attendant did excellent work. There’s free WiFi in the hotel and on the beach. The volleyball court is oddly placed and poorly maintained. The beach bar opens at 10. The underground fitness room has reasonable equipment, but needs investment to make it more appealing. There’s also a towel deposit, which is unusual for a five-star hotel. Avoid the economy room, it was awful even for one night. The other room types are stylish and spacious enough, but not soundproof. TV reception on western channels was unstable. Meals had enough variety from one meal to the next, but were mostly repetitive day to day. Lamb was scarce, and the pastries could have been tastier and more varied. The restaurant staff didn’t seem well trained, and some were tired or absent toward the end of the season. Evening entertainment was still running but poor. There wasn’t much else to do: the lobby is tiny, there’s no late bar, and the single bar closes at 11 PM, serving all drinks in plastic cups. There are no alternatives in or outside the hotel beyond walks along the promenade. Most tourists speak Russian.

The heated pool was the main thing I’d requested for the trip, so I was really upset that the hotel turned it off three days before our holiday ended. We were there with our four-month-old, who loves swimming, and I couldn’t get in with her because the water was too cold for me. When we asked, they just said the season was ending and the heating was off. Is it really that costly to keep it on until the last day? The pool area itself was calm and pretty, the weather was nice, and the local cats were adorable. We enjoyed the hamam and massages. Food was fine, nothing special, and the desserts all tasted the same to me. The rooms need refreshing, and cleaning wasn’t good. It felt like someone had just been in our room a few hours earlier. Door panels fell off twice in a row, and I’m thankful they didn’t hit me or my baby.

A warm, friendly resort with an awesome pool area and lots of activities each day. The evening music shows can be a bit loud if your balcony is right above them.

The beach is nice, and the hotel has some surprisingly good pizza. Otherwise, the food is average for both quality and variety, and most guests are Russian. I think paying a little more could get you a much better hotel in this category. We’d just come from Vonresort Golden Beach in Side, and the two places weren’t comparable. The staff seemed a bit unhappy and worn out. I hope they’re treated well.

The hotel is compact, with friendly staff and good service for an average price. There are different kinds of food, including vegetarian choices, and it’s always fresh and tasty, though not especially delicious. The beach is good, but the sunbeds are packed close together and that’s uncomfortable. You cross a fairly quiet road to get there, which wasn’t a problem for me. WiFi worked in the room. Towels are available with a $10 deposit. The spa is comfortable and offers a good massage.
