We enjoyed our holiday overall, and the hotel and its location worked well for us. The entertainment was very good, with talented acrobats, mostly excellent dancers, and pleasant live music with guitar and vocals. The hammam and massage were good, but be aware that any extra services offered during the process cost money, even if they seem included at first. The beach is excellent, about a 5-7 minute walk away, and watermelon is handed out there around 10-11 a.m. There were beautiful fish near the pier. For two or three days we saw small jellyfish in deep water, though they didn't bother us much. There was occasionally a little rubbish floating by, but it was rare and not much, and I think that's the case everywhere. Food was varied, with fish, chicken, turkey, burgers, and lots of tasty sides. The watermelons were especially good. We had no issues after eating. Flies were the one food-related nuisance for us and other guests. Once during our two weeks, we found them in the salad. There were no wasps. The bar's cold coffee with syrup was delicious, as was the ice cream served in the afternoon. Our room was mostly cleaned well, and they always left us water. The area around the pool got dirty in the evenings, but the pool itself was cleaned and chlorinated regularly. The music in the lobby and dining room was repetitive and often too loud. Since we had nowhere to sit in our room, we often stayed in the lobby after lunch to escape the heat, and the music got annoying. A more varied, quieter playlist would have helped. The staff were polite and helpful when we had questions, including about how to get places. Our experience with the hotel guide, P.E., was the opposite. At the meeting, he tried to sell us excursions before discussing our return transfer and hotel details. This wasn't our first time in Turkey, and we didn't need trips. When we politely said so and asked for the information, he got angry, took offense, and behaved strangely, to say the least. We later found out he had been dishonest. We had to arrange our departure through him, which was impossible. The hotel pickup was scheduled too late, and we only just found out in time. That's one example. We reported the details to the hotel manager and tour operator and hope they draw conclusions. We took a taxi to nearby Mount Tahtali and bought tickets ourselves on site, which was cheaper. We also visited neighboring Phaselis on our own, which I highly recommend. For a taxi, I suggest booking through the U app and asking the driver to turn on the meter. Check afterward that the fare entered in the app matches the meter. You pay by card through the app. Near the hotel, several shops sell churchkhela and other Turkish sweets. At one shop, they put sweets we hadn't ordered into a closed box, which cost us about $15-20 extra. It had a red carpet, and that's what they call themselves, since all the shops look alike. I think this happens in other stores too, so always check what they're weighing for you. Cheap souvenirs, sweets, and soap are much less expensive at an official supermarket in Kemer. We stayed about 1.5 weeks in July 2025.
