The pictures made the hotel look normal, so why are online travel agents still selling rooms here? When we arrived, it felt like Gotham city.

I went with Mevlana Hotel yesterday because it was the cheapest place I could find. I planned to switch to Pir Hotel today, but they turned me away after asking where I’d stayed. They said they don’t take guests from Mevlana Hotel because past guests from there often had lice. It was a really embarrassing situation.

The room was filthy, with dirt piled in a corner, old stained towels, an unmade bed, and moldy grout. Water ran down the bathroom wall, while the wallpaper was damp and peeling. The shower only got warm, and its drain was over on the far side of the floor. The fridge wasn’t plugged in, and the taped extension lead they gave us just reached the outlet. The TV and aircon batteries were flat or missing. Disgusting place, avoid it. There’s no way it should be rated three stars.

For what it costs, this hotel is great.
