Selay Hotel

We left two days early because we weren't happy with the hotel. Some things did work for us: the staff were friendly, there was pool access, and having a fridge and wardrobe in the room was nice. The location wasn't ideal, but it was close enough to the beach and supermarkets. There was no room maintenance service, and we had to keep going to reception for toilet paper. Nobody told us about breakfast, the pool, or Wi-Fi when we arrived, so we had to go down several times to ask. The hotel operation felt very amateurish. There were no cups or glasses in the room, and most of the staff couldn't speak English, which made communication difficult and awkward. The breakfast buffet should have been covered to keep bugs and flies off the food. I saw a dead fly on the cheese plate because it had no lid. We also weren't told that canned orange juice was free and could simply be requested. We only found that out by chance. The shower head wouldn't stay in its holder because the hinge couldn't support its weight, so we had to hold it while showering. It seemed we weren't the only ones with that problem. The pool water had a lot of chlorine in it, and swimming wasn't pleasant. A note to the owner: please make sure hotel service is handled professionally and hire people with the right skills. If there's no room maintenance, say so in the booking details so guests aren't misled. The hotel also needs English-speaking staff for international guests to have a good experience. In reply to the owner's response: only one person spoke English on the first day when we got our keys. He wasn't there from that night onward, and nobody else on the premises could speak English. We only bought beers at the bar and paid for them. Nobody told us we'd have a bill if we bought anything. Staff just handed over the keys, opened the door, and showed us how to close it. They didn't check whether anything worked, and the shower holder already had the problem I described. At checkout, I returned the keys and asked the woman at reception whether we were done. She said yes. Either you're mixing us up with someone else or making things up. Please be open to criticism. I'm sharing honest feedback so your business can improve.
