Begonville Apart Hotel

They charged an extra 70 euros for AC. We had the same towels and sheets all week, and the bed was wider than the sheet, leaving the sides of the mattress exposed. Staff didn’t help with the luggage. They walked ahead of me up the steps with their hands empty.

The kitchenette is extremely limited, so this isn’t really a self-catering apartment: there’s just one hot ring, one pan, one frying pan, and no toaster. If you want to cook meals, this place isn’t for you. I’d also move the washing line inside the balcony, since it hangs over the edge and looks unsightly. Otherwise, we had a great stay. The rooms were fine and clean, the staff were friendly and polite, and I’d certainly stay again.

The room was cleaned every day, and the staff were always around and helpful. The AC worked well, and the small kitchenette was fine for making tea and a sandwich. The pool was nice, though closing from 18:00 to 08:00 seemed odd, especially since it stayed so hot at night. The location isn’t beautiful, but it’s close enough to the places that matter. It’s probably what you’d expect from a two-star hotel in Turkey, though stained bedsheets and damage around the room are hard to excuse. Check the restaurant prices before ordering food or drinks. They’re in euros and higher than usual: a cocktail was 6 euros, and a seafood platter for two was 99 euros. We ate most nights at Pepper grill nearby, where a meal for four with drinks was 1800 Turkish lira and there were no tricks.

The room smelled awful, like mold and cigarettes, and the bed stank too. The sheets were very old and had holes. Even though I was told smoking wasn’t allowed inside, people were smoking in the lobby. The price was okay, but not a bargain. Staff ignored me a couple of times when I asked to change rooms. I won’t stay here again.
