Calido Maris Hotel

The all-inclusive cocktails were awful, though the paid ones were amazing. The hotel is also quite far from all the excursions. Even so, I’d definitely come back. The customer service, atmosphere, and food were great, and it’s right by the beach.

Turkey was a pleasant surprise on our first visit, and we were especially impressed with the service. The hotel and food were more than satisfactory. Rukiye deserves a special mention as the best waitress in the restaurant.

The beach is right by the hotel, which is great if you’re happy to stay at the resort. But outside it, there’s not much around, just construction sites and dust. We wanted to visit Side and asked how to get there. Staff didn’t recommend buses or taxis, saying they were expensive and unreliable, so we rented a car from the company for 70€. We had a good time on our first trip to Turkey, but a few things might be useful to know. Our room wasn’t very clean, which mattered with a toddler crawling everywhere, though it was cleaned regularly. We were assigned a wheelchair-accessible room, with grab bars and ramps all over. The bathroom was spacious but had no counter space beyond the sink. My biggest issue was how little English most staff spoke. Most seemed to speak German, which may suit the hotel and its guests, but if you don’t know Turkish or German, expect a rough time. Apart from a couple of mishaps, service was pretty good.

I had to change the five-star review I posted just days ago after some of our clothes went missing. During the final two days, a beautiful white dress with a lot of sentimental value was taken. We’d been leaving generous tips for housekeeping each day, so this was especially unexpected. I’ve never had anything like this happen before. It was our first trip to Turkey, and sadly it will be our last. I reported it to guest relations, but I don’t feel confident the hotel will take it seriously or properly investigate.
