Hanay Suit Hotel

This is a clean, basic hotel that works well if you're travelling on a budget. Our room was quite clean, and the towels were changed every day. The pool was the only amenity included in the room price; soap and shampoo weren't provided, and air conditioning cost extra. WiFi was free in the restaurant, and we might have picked up some signal from a pool-view room. In-room WiFi was available for a fee, but we didn't try it. The half-board dinner was okay, while breakfast was especially disappointing. There are plenty of nearby places with much better food, so I wouldn't pay extra for the meals.

The room was lovely, and the location suited us as a base while we were out most of the time. We didn't interact with the staff much. The fairly small pool area had a section in shade all day, so we didn't spend much time there. The pool area and our room were cleaned daily. The restaurant had a decent number of people at dinner, so I assumed the food was probably good. At reception, the older of the two men couldn't do enough for us. The younger one often seemed to be in a bad mood, and his attitude could be shocking. He said he was a manager?

We had a lovely week at Hanay Suit hotel in Side and enjoyed every minute. The food was good, and everyone was friendly and helpful. The reception staff were lovely, and the cleaning staff did a very good job. A special thanks to our favourite waiter, Yardal (I'm not sure I've got the spelling right), who was the best.

The cats on site and the big dog outside the entrance were the only ones who made me feel even a little welcome. The beds were surprisingly comfortable, but music from the pool was obnoxiously loud, and nearby bars kept karaoke and amateur live music going all night, so sleep was a struggle most nights. The location is poor for quiet. The bar and entertainment worker in a snapback cap was especially irritating, spending much of his shift laughing loudly and flirting with guests. We arrived at 2 a.m. and had to buy water from the bar because the hotel doesn't provide basics like water or soap. We also hadn't realized air conditioning cost extra, which seems ridiculous in summer heat that even locals struggle with. I can just about accept no free WiFi in the rooms, but the restaurant WiFi was poor. On two days it was clearly switched off. The first time, we were told a fire had wiped out some electrical equipment, yet both times the manager somehow turned it back on. The staff came across as unprofessional and lacking basic courtesy and customer service. This was an awful place to stay, with so many problems that I'm surprised the reviews are so pleasant. The hotel is dreadful, and I hope people stop supporting such poor quality.
