MARDİN OSMANLI KONAĞI Hotel

We booked three nights on someone else's recommendation, and the place looked impressive when we arrived. The interiors were beautifully decorated to a high standard. But the staff let us down. Nobody welcomed us, the receptionist didn't say anything, and the person we took to be the manager seemed miserable. Our room was clean but very basic and smelled of cigarette smoke. There was just one central light, controlled by a switch by the door, and no bedside light, so getting in or out of bed to switch it on or off was necessary. We were told breakfast ran from 8am to 10am. On our first morning the dining room was closed and no one was around, so we waited until 8.20am for it to open. Once we were served, though, the breakfast was surprisingly good. After being out all day and evening, we came back to an unserviced room with very little toilet paper. We complained, but nothing changed. We checked out the next day, got a refund, and moved to a very good hotel across the road with friendly staff and impeccable service. The attractive reception areas give a misleading impression. The rooms were disappointing and certainly not worth the money.

I booked online, but there was a date problem. The receptionist spoke to me rudely and disrespectfully instead of helping, and showed no courtesy or effort to find a solution or even talk politely. I had already paid, and guests shouldn't be treated that way. If respectful service and basic hospitality matter to you, look for another hotel. I can't recommend this one.

The building is old and looks extraordinary nice, with a great view over Mesopotamia. Still, the room wasn't clean at all, and the staff were very unfriendly and not service-oriented. That was completely unlike everyone else we met in Mardin. It could have been such a cool place, but the staff quality makes it hard to recommend.

The terrace has a magnificent view and a great little coffee shop, and the rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff were so helpful. The building looks stunning inside and out, and the location is great. Everything was perfect for me, and I'll be back :)
