Reyhani Kasri - Special Class

Our small standard room suited us fine for the night we spent in Mardin over the weekend. It had air conditioning, a minibar, and a clean shower. The view was amazing, even better than the one from the cafes. The staff were kind and helpful, and the hotel sits right in the centre of the old town. Definitely recommended.

The location is great, with magnificent views, and my room was lovely and comfortable. The problem was that housekeeping threw out my new face washer, then said they hadn’t seen it. Management only apologized, which didn’t feel like much support. I’d keep your things put away in case they get thrown out. Management seemed a bit unconcerned about whether guests were satisfied.

I ended up staying four days and was very happy with the room, the service, and the helpful staff. The hotel is right in the heart of the old town, and the view is great. Breakfast was nice too, served on the terrace. I’d only come here at the last moment because the room I’d booked at another hotel wasn’t satisfactory and I needed another option. The staff found me a large, lovely room with a balcony looking over Mardin valley, held it for me until the next day, and wouldn’t even take a deposit.

The hotel’s best features are its location and the endless Mesopothamia views from the terrace. You can sit or stand on the ledge to take it all in, though there aren’t chairs or drink service. From the street, the facade doesn’t hint at the view tucked around the back. The rooms were clean, but felt dated, and the hotel doesn’t make the most of its setting. The breakfast space is on the top floor, yet even on a bright, warm day there were no outdoor tables. The food was underwhelming for the local produce they could have included. There was a standard Turkish breakfast with different Turkish cheeses, tomatoes, olives, fresh herbs and bread, plus plenty of jam and yogurt, so there was something to eat. It just didn’t feel like much passion had gone into it. The view and location make this hotel worth a visit, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Next time we come to Mardin, we may try the hotel across the street.
