Before writing, I read the other reviews, and nearly everyone opened by saying there isn't even a market. To me, this is the kind of place where you don't need a market or technology. We got a friendly welcome and had an easy, hassle-free holiday. Thanks as well for the fish Murat caught and cooked. That salad was especially amazing. Everything worked out well. The house and furniture are very old, and even cooking with what we had brought from home was almost impossible. They wouldn't even provide salt, and we didn't feel welcomed. When something broke that wasn't our fault and cost very little, they argued with us, so we paid just to avoid more delays. Then they came home early in the morning and disturbed us, followed by visits to the door two or three times a day to bring up the same issue. At checkout, instead of saying goodbye, we heard, “The payment still hasn't been paid.” We were told beforehand that there was a market nearby, but there wasn't. This is in a remote part of the island, with nothing around, not even a shop. You can swim for an hour and then be stuck at home; I think most people would get bored. Don't be misled by the positive reviews. We were, and went there.

On our first visit to Marmara Island, we wanted a quiet family holiday, and Murat Kaptan Apart in Gündoğdu turned out to be a very good choice. The house and garden were spotless, and we had a wonderful stay. The Murat Kaptan family were lovely, kind, and welcoming, and we also appreciated how friendly and refined the people of Gündoğdu were. If you come to Marmara Island, I’d choose Gündoğdu over Saraylar or Çınarlı.

The apartments were spacious and very clean, in what I thought was the island’s loveliest part. My family and I had a wonderful holiday, and I was really pleased with the stay. Mr. Mehmet and his family made us feel so welcome. Thank you.
