Maris Beach Otel

I love this hotel and have been coming for 11 years. The staff are brilliant, the rooms exceptionally clean, and I have no complaints about either. But September has ruined the beach atmosphere two years running. A very loud group of middle-aged people were playing music and shouting, then made it worse by getting microphones out to play bingo. It’s made a peaceful holiday impossible, and could end my love affair with the hotel.

The beach is right outside the hotel, and the restaurant there had excellent food and service. Breakfast was disappointing, though, and the pool is tiny. We got lucky with room 511, a large corner room, since the other rooms are small. Air conditioning cost 200TL per night, and there was a separate charge for the safe for our stay. Shops and bars are close by. The minibus to the marina is cheap, and it’s a lively place; you can also head to icelemer. Boat trips were good value, and the airport transfer took 90 minutes. I’d come back, it’s a great spot.

We managed, but I’d tell people to spend their money somewhere else. The beach is fairly accessible and the location is decent, but the rooms were tiny and had no character, with beds that felt unbelievably small. Breakfast was extremely poor. We were also charged at check-in for the air conditioner and safe box, even though they were listed as room facilities, and nobody had told us beforehand. That felt like a rip-off. The reception staff were among the least helpful I’ve come across, which made for a bad start to the holiday.

Maris beaches worked really well as a budget hotel, ticking all the boxes for me after stays at a few places in Marmaris. I had a sea-view room and loved waking up to that view. The room had been newly done and was spotless. It was cleaned every day, and the woman who did it was lovely and friendly. Reception staff were helpful too. I had the best time and would definitely recommend it.
