Pilos Suites

The team was sweet and welcoming, and most people spoke great English. We had a wonderful break with my Dad, who helped us get through a tough time. The sea was perfect and felt restorative. Pilos hotel is a cozy boutique hotel with clean, nicely designed buildings and everything seeming well planned. The walk down to the beach is a nice bit of exercise before relaxing on the sun loungers with frozen cocktails and snacks. On the way back, the shuttle is a better choice because the sun is strong on the uphill walk. There were a few small maintenance issues, like the trash not being taken out and no body lotion, but we could live with those. Food at both the beach and pool restaurants was simple, good, and honest. We loved the goat cheese risotto. There are plenty of places for more local food along the walking street and beach walk. I think I’d avoid staying here in high season, but early summer or fall would make for a nice break.

The main positives were the great location, friendly staff, and clean, comfortable rooms. The staff were amazing throughout, and I’m grateful to everyone who looked after us. Without the difficulties we had as a family, I would have given five stars. With kids, I’d rate the stay three. The children's pool is small, far from the main pool, and uncomfortably hot. The bar and service are much better at the main pool, which children can’t use. Getting around with a stroller was hard because of all the steps and narrow paths. Accessibility for disabled guests also seems lacking, which could be a serious issue for anyone needing accommodations. I also saw a lot of influencers promoting the place, and their reviews seemed a bit misleading.

The hotel is a long way from the city, and the price doesn’t feel right for what you get. The rooms are OK, but the beach was a disaster and looked nothing like the photos on Instagram, TikTok, or booking.com.

The private beach has attractive decor, comfortable seating, and really nice bars. Cocktails at both the beach and pool bars were phenomenal, made with ingredients grown on the property. The grounds are well cared for, full of flowers and trees, with lovely views. The staff are extremely polite and considerate. Rooms are very clean, with soothing colors and a contemporary, boho style that feels connected to nature without giving up comfort. I’d recommend the place for families with kids and for couples without them.
