Kisikpet Hotel

The room was large and the beds were comfortable, and we loved being somewhere remote with no traffic. But the booking promised three meals and a swimming pool. We only got breakfast, and the pool couldn't be used, which was disappointing.

The owner wouldn't turn us away even though the hotel was full. He quickly made a storage room available, and offered tea and coffee while we waited. After our 10-hour flight, my two small children and I were exhausted, and I was overwhelmed when a car rental company let us down and we couldn't reach our booked hotel two hours away. It was the middle of the night at Izmir Airport, and I was afraid we'd be left on the street, so I took a taxi to Kılıç AirPort Hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, and the children fell asleep right away. Once they were asleep, the owner took time to talk with me and reassure me. His kindness helped me settle down after seeing my tired, crying children. I'm deeply grateful for the help that night. They put people first and gave us amazing service. I can absolutely recommend the place.

The staff were amazing, kind, and helpful, which was the one good thing. The place is behind a gas station, and the bathroom, shower, and beds all gave me a bad hygiene feeling. I don't mean that they were dirty, exactly, but the vibe was off. Nothing is new or fancy. I'd only choose it if the alternative were sleeping outside, and in summer I'd probably sleep outside.

This family-run place felt like real Turkish magic to me, all about shelter, nature, and people looking after their guests. ERGIN even brought me Turkish Pizza and Turkish Coffee on the house. There's a restaurant across the outdoor pool, and it was good for satisfying my hunger. The bedding was clean and there was a bathroom to wash in, which was all I needed. I came for one night before my flight to the UK and found this little oasis hidden down a passage behind a busy petrol station. The garden had chickens on the lawn, plenty of cats, and birds singing in the trees that screened the hotel from strangers. The hosts were warm, genuine, and ready to help. The bedroom and bed were huge, and the whole place felt close to nature and free of materialism. It's back to basics, with adequate tapestry, not silk sheets, curtains, or air con. I arrived in a trance and felt like I floated into the room on a magic carpet. It's no pompous corporate hotel, but an experience that stirred the senses. The host welcomed me into their "Hotel California". It reminded me of finding the lost colonel in "Apocalyse Now". Stop winging about privileges or shortcomings and get a life! The chickens are happy at the Kilic Airport Otel, and so were we. Look for the deeper meaning of life and you might find it at the Kilic.
