Epic Hotel

The room’s condition was so bad that we immediately booked somewhere else for the rest of our holiday. We felt unsafe and uncomfortable, and what we found was far below the standard shown in the online descriptions and photos. The bathroom fittings and shower head were covered in mould and heavy limescale, and the shower area was dirty and poorly maintained. The bedside table had exposed nails and damage, and the room and bathroom were generally unclean. The carpets throughout the hotel were visibly dirty. When switched on, the air conditioning gave off a strong, unpleasant smell, and one room light didn’t work. This doesn’t even deserve one star. Do not book.

We were a family of six and asked for three rooms together, but they put two on opposite sides of the second floor and the third on the fourth. Our five-day stay at Epic Hotel in Marmaris was appalling from the start. The manager was rude and dismissive, and no one at reception spoke English, which made communication frustrating. One receptionist could only communicate through Google Translate. The hotel was in a shocking state, with filthy carpets throughout that looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned in years. We raised it with reception and were told complaints had been made to the manager, but nothing had been done. Our room had other problems too: the air conditioner leaked for four days despite repeated reports, and nobody fixed it. We had to switch it off and sleep in the heat. The lights switches didn’t work, drawer handles were broken, and to reach reception we had to walk down each time. Breakfast was sparse and unappetizing, so we paid to eat elsewhere every morning. Housekeeping barely happened: the rooms were cleaned just once, sheets and towels were never changed, and there weren’t any bedroom bins. We weren’t given drinking water, there were no tea or coffee facilities, and the in-room safe cost extra per day. We were told not to take room towels to the pool, which we respected, but when we asked for pool towels, staff rudely said we should have brought our own. The booking information never mentioned this. It was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had. The cleanliness, service and hospitality were unacceptable, and I wouldn’t recommend Epic Hotel to anyone wanting a comfortable or enjoyable stay in Marmaris.

The rooms were comfortable, and the modern air conditioning worked wonders. We had a lovely stay, with a clean pool and friendly staff, and I’d use this hotel again. You get what you pay for, so don’t expect a five-star place at a three-star price.

I’ve never stayed anywhere this bad. The bathroom looked like it had never been cleaned, even though our room was supposedly serviced three times. The carpets were filthy, towels stained, wallpaper torn, and the exposed wiring seemed like a fire hazard. Breakfast was sparse and tasteless, reception staff were miserable, and the excursions rep was rude. I’ve already complained to Thomas cook. Don’t book this place. It doesn’t deserve even one star.
