Sunway Hotel

The food and drinks at the hotel were very good and fairly priced. The breakfast was a letdown, though for the price I wasn't sure what people should expect. We were treated well throughout. We arrived around midnight, and the manager opened the kitchen and made us something to eat, which was really accommodating. Staff and managers were pleasant, never gave us any hassle, and always waved and smiled. It's a relatively small hotel with a small pool, but even at full capacity we could always find a sunbed. The location is excellent, right in the heart of the Marmaris blue port area. The beach is a two-minute walk away, and shops, bars, and restaurants are all around. Rooms are basic but clean and tidy. The beds are firm, which I think is common here, though comfort is a matter of preference. Air conditioning cost 40 gbp for the week and the safe was 20 gbp, about the going rate. I'd definitely return to this great little hotel.

For the price, this hotel is a great deal, right in central Marmaris. You can get to Içemelar with a short dolmuş ride, and shops, places to eat, the beach, and excursions are all easy to reach. Omar, Ibrahim, Yaseen, Chef Yusuf, and the cleaning and other staff were all friendly, polite, and true gentlemen. I needed a family room with air conditioning, and they found me one with a sea view when other places couldn't. Breakfast had good options, and Chef Yusuf's breakfast soup was lovely, a 10/10. The pool was clean and tidy. I enjoyed my short visit and would definitely recommend the hotel.

The bar and reception staff were incredibly helpful and easy to approach, but the management were horrible. I watched them speak rudely to other guests. One manager refused to put up an umbrella, saying he didn't want to get his hands dirty, even though an older woman would clearly have struggled to lift and open the big umbrella herself. The female manager spoke rudely to both staff and guests in front of people, and they didn't seem interested in sorting out concerns. After checking out at noon, we waited in the lobby for our transfer and felt as if the managers were watching us like a hawk. I won't be back. If the management had been more understanding and approachable, I might have reconsidered.

We arrived and were given a sea-view family room, even though we hadn't booked one. We checked twice that it was ours, and the receptionist assured us it was. We'd already unpacked and gone to bed when we found out the next day that they'd given us the wrong room. A new receptionist told us to move, so we had to cancel our excursion, repack, and switch rooms. When we left, nobody apologised, said goodbye, or even thanked us. The place was very dirty. There were stains on the towels and sheets, mould all over the bathroom, and awful lighting. Breakfast wasn't edible, there was nothing for the children, and there wasn't even bottled water in the room. The receptionist completely ignored us, with no hello or smile, and there was no entertainment or even music by the pool. This was the worst hotel experience we've ever had. I've never encountered anything like it, and I wouldn't give it one star. The owner is horrible. He won't listen when you try to speak to him or explain something, and doesn't seem to care.
