It has a genuine feel to it.

Birgin is so quiet at night, and sitting on the balcony with coffee and breathing that clean air was lovely. We really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of this 600-year-old mansion. The warm smiles, sincere welcome, and service made us feel great. I'd definitely recommend it.
After trying many places, this was easily my favorite hotel stay. I came on someone else's recommendation and ended up loving it. Everything was clean and well organized, and the staff paid close attention to us.
The extra service charge was the last straw: on top of the accommodation, they asked us for 1500 TL. We were exhausted and had done the work ourselves, so it felt like a joke. We bought our own food, lit the barbecue, made salad, set the table, then cleared it and washed the dishes. We even made coffee and helped out, while being treated more like hosts than guests. The kitchen was filthy, so bringing your own food and drink won't solve the cleanliness problem. Cats and dogs wandered around the counters, and the mess bothered me. We also couldn't get to our rooms until around 4:00 PM. Şükran's assistants had stopped working, and she cleaned slowly, taking breaks. We checked back a few times and asked when we could settle in; each time she was sitting, then got up to continue once she saw us. We didn't make an issue of it at the time. They seemed warm, welcoming, and like nice people. But then they charged us for service after we'd done so much ourselves. It felt like they take advantage of people under the guise of goodwill and try to overcharge tourists.
The next day, after we'd done the work ourselves, we were told there was an extra 1500 TL bill. That included even the food they had offered us. When we objected, it went down to 1250 TL. We had trusted the family-like warmth, but ended up paying for services we had actually provided ourselves, from lighting the grill and cooking the meat to washing dishes, tidying up, and making coffee. I won't forget how embarrassing that felt, and I don't forgive the money or the help we gave. Thanks for making us feel like family, then making us feel like all that goodwill meant nothing. It had started so nicely. Ms. Şükran was friendly on the phone, we paid a deposit, and booked two rooms, one for us and one for our friends. Check-in was meant to be at 2 PM, and they said they could help if we arrived early. We got there later, around 3:30 PM, and the rooms still weren't ready. We didn't mind at first because they seemed friendly. Once we were settled, we were told we could use the common area for dinner. We asked more than once what the grill and other supplies would cost, but couldn't get a price. We kept hearing things like "we'll handle it" and "it's not important." Believing it would only cost a small amount, we bought everything for dinner elsewhere: meat, bread, salad ingredients, and appetizers. The only things we used from the guesthouse were the grill and plates and cutlery. When anything was missing, we went out and bought it or helped ourselves. Our spouses handled all the kitchen work, and we even carried the guesthouse's firewood. We did nearly everything, including lighting the grill and cooking, and shared the ingredients we'd brought with everyone there. We thought their offering of a little meat was simply a response to our friendly, generous attitude. Don't use extra services here unless they give you a price first. I hope Ms. Şükran and Mr. Osman read this and understand how their way of building trust left us feeling deceived. We were treated warmly, then charged for work we'd done ourselves. It left me feeling that our good intentions had been abused.
