My son and I just got back from two weeks at the Basar hotel. The gardens are pretty, and the hotel is clean, with lovely pools that are a perfect size for relaxing. It's in a great location, and the staff work so hard while staying kind and friendly. The manager can't do enough for you. I have nothing but good things to say, and would definitely recommend it.

I arrived very late, and they still made me a meal. The rooms are clean, the food at breakfast and dinner was amazing, and the attentive staff work incredibly hard. It's a brilliant family-run hotel. I was out all day on a packed schedule of activities, so didn't spend much time there, but I can't fault it. They even surprised me with a birthday cake. Thanks to Mr Basar and all the staff.

It’s a nice place, and the rooms and pool are very nice too. But the pool area was untidy. Three dead, completely brown conifers dropped needles around the sunbeds, which got underfoot and were carried into the pool or our room. Cutting them down would take 15 minutes. It would have been less of an issue if they’d hosed the area each night, but during our two-week stay they never did. I know because our room was right by the pool. Behind the trees there was also a graveyard of popped inflatables. The staff were nice, but spoke very little English, and there were mostly German guests. There were lots of sunloungers but not enough umbrellas, which caused some tension among guests. We didn't eat there, so I can't comment on the food. It's fine, and exactly what you'd expect from a 3 star place, though tidying those simple things would make it much better.

The pool was a highlight for us: warm, roomy, with plenty of loungers and a little separate pool for young kids. It stayed peaceful even with children around, and the bar had good drinks. Lunch was tasty too, and we ate there several times. There’s free Wi-Fi in most areas, and while most staff speak only a little English, they still do their best to make you comfortable. We spent 12 days here with the family in July. Basar Hotel is small and charming, an easy walk from busy Dalyan centre. Basar, the owner, was always ready to help with trips, transport, or small problems. Our room was comfortable and well kept, with enough towels for the bathroom and pool, and the beds were good. Breakfast had plenty of tasty options, and for an extra fee you could get fresh orange juice. Dinner brought fresh soup, a main dish, plenty of vegetables and local food, plus desserts. There was enough choice for both children and adults. We had a lovely holiday and will definitely return.

Those views from the balcony over the rolling hills were a real highlight. We stayed six nights, and on two or three of them we didn't even leave the hotel. The rooms were comfortable, and the whole place felt like a family run hotel. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the manager was fun to spend time with. We had a night flight, so arrived to check in at 4am UK time, 6am in Turkey. Someone was awake to take us to our room. When we checked out, they made us a small breakfast to take to the airport. Breakfast was a buffet, with eggs cooked how you like them. I had omelettes on a couple of mornings. Dinner included home cooked food such as lentil soup and chicken fajitas, along with a table full of salads. The hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk from Dalyan Town centre, with restaurants, taxis, rental places and river boats to the beach. There’s a Turtle sanctuary there, plus a bar, toilets and basic food. The wildlife was amazing. We saw bats, turtles, crabs if we walked away from people, and stray dogs that seemed to be living their best life. There were also plenty of cats, including one that liked hanging out with us on our balcony. There are two pools. The one by reception is lively, where guests mingle, while the pool in the other building across the road is peaceful. Thanks for such a great stay at Basar Hotel. Sorry we didn't get a chance to shake hands and say goodbye properly. Best holiday ever. Joe & Rachel Room 505
