Dalyan Terrace Hotel

The water and rocks look beautiful from the room, but my window faced the neighboring hotel. The room was cramped, with nowhere to open a large suitcase, so I had to put mine on the small bed. I was given a large double and a single bed. The shower was spacious, though its floor was very slippery. The place needs repairs, and during my four-night stay the room was never cleaned. The food was the same every day.

A small, lovely hotel, kept very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is served Turkish style on the rooftop terrace, with lovely views over the river and the Lycian tombs cut into the mountainside.

The hotel is in a good spot and could be a charming little place, but the owners seem uninterested in guests or service. Nobody explains that you need to ask for your room to be serviced and leave the key. The bathroom needs renovating: the shower has no sprinkler head, an old water heater hangs there with its wires exposed, and only a trickle comes from the sink tap. It has real potential, but the place needs some care.

The location worked well, with a short riverside walk to town and the town streets just a couple of minutes the other way. I liked the laid-back feel and the staff were helpful, friendly and flexible. The room was tired and very basic, though I was glad there was hot water for washing and showers. Breakfast was a nice buffet, but having it on the rooftop in late November was freezing and uncomfortable, and that spoiled it. The views kept me entertained, though: tombs carved into the mountainside, boats moving on the water, wildlife and beautiful scenery.
