Burcu Kaya Hotel

There are good swimming pools and the staff are courteous. Breakfast is included and decent. The dinner buffet costs 600 Turkish Lira per head, and there’s a friendly dog in the hotel lobby. We used the hotel mainly to rest between tours, so don’t expect a high-end room or somewhere to spend the whole day. The A/c wasn’t strong enough, though leaving the windows open at night cooled the room over time. Nights here are in the mid teen Celsius. The curtains also aren’t thick enough to keep out the sunshine.

This was one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in. Everything had an odd, old smell, and I don’t know how it got a 4-star rating. Our balcony looked over the swimming pool, but the washroom was really dirty and in bad shape, with a broken tap and weird sounds coming from the toilet. We visited in November when it was very cold, yet the room was too hot. Turning off the heaters and switching on the AC didn’t solve the big temperature difference between indoors and outside. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it, especially for families with children. Breakfast and dinner were okay, but the dining staff were rude and unhappy. They rushed us and tried to clear plates before we’d finished eating. The hotel also wasn’t stroller or wheelchair friendly. We had to carry our son’s stroller up and down, including on the way to breakfast and dinner. I think the hotel pays for all the good comments.

The hotel is nice and the service was pleasant, but the rooms felt a bit small for a reservation for 3 people. Restaurant service could be better, since there aren’t enough waiters at busy times. The buffet food was okay, but it was always cold. For breakfast, lunch, or dinner, I’d go early because it gets really crowded.

The hotel was good but almost empty, probably because it was off season. The woman at the counter was helpful, even though she couldn’t speak English well and had to use Google Translate. The other reception guys were rude and uncooperative. We had a flight 4 hours after checkout, and it was raining and cold outside, so we asked to stay in the room for four more hours with our baby. They refused right away, saying other guests needed to check in even though the hotel was empty. They charged us another full night, including breakfast, just to stay those extra 4 hours. That spoiled our trip to cappadocia and is why the rating isn’t good.
