Pamukkale Melrose Viewpoint Suites

I had a lovely, spacious room, with a view of the hot air balloons taking off in the morning. Breakfast was a tasty Turkish spread. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The only downside was the very poor WiFi.

The one thing I enjoyed was seeing the balloons fly above the Pamukkale travertines from our little balcony in the morning. We couldn’t sit out there, though, because the chairs were so dusty, and there was a garbage smell outside. Thank goodness we were there for just one night. We trusted the positive reviews and regretted it. If this was meant to be the “comfort room,” I can’t imagine how low the standard gets. I do not recommend this hotel. The room was poorly kept, with broken items, dust, and mold in several spots. There was no soundproofing, so we heard snores from next door and dogs barking in the street at random times overnight. There were no blackout curtains, the minibar was moldy, and there was no bedside table on either side of the bed. Some lamp switches didn’t work. The bathroom was the worst part. The shower head was greasy and filthy, with a hair stuck to it. They did replace it with one from another room after we asked. There was mold inside the sink cabinet, old stained towels, no toilet paper holder or place for shower toiletries, no shower curtain or bath mat, gaps in the ceiling, pipes on the wall, and no hand soap. The whole room felt disgusting. There were dead flies on the stairs, too. At night, the staff member on duty was lying on the couch watching something loudly on his phone. Breakfast was below average, which surprised me since Turkish breakfast is usually so easy to get right. It wasn’t continental. They put a ridiculous amount of the cheapest items straight on the table, with no choices, and nothing seemed fresh. The owners’ photos and the listed facilities and amenities didn’t match what we found.

Every staff member was warm, friendly, and willing to help with anything we asked. We were told it’s a family run hotel, and you could feel that in the way everyone greeted us with a smile. Our room was spacious and clean, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is near Pakkumale, with free parking, and you can walk to the gate, though it isn’t the South Gate. We had a wonderful stay.

We loved staying here. It’s a charming, traditional family hotel that’s well run, quiet, and in a handy location. The place was immaculate, the breakfasts were fabulous, and the staff were helpful.
