Kolağasi Konak

We were very happy with our weekend here, and may well stay again on one of our short trips to Safranbolu. This is a carefully restored Konak in a central spot, with a great price for what you get. Breakfast was lovely, and free çay and oralet in the evening were a nice extra. We played tavla by the fireplace, too. A couple of things felt a bit too Turkish: some rooms had no fire sensor, and a few doors didn’t shut properly. The doors are understandable in a traditional house, but missing fire sensors are a safety concern.

The terrace has a lovely view, and the place was clean, with friendly employees. I loved how unusual and original the rooms felt, nothing like other places. The food was perfect and everything felt special. This was the best place I’ve stayed, and I’m definitely coming back.

The hotel feels like a home, with everything new, and the rooms are as good as those in a five-star hotel. Mr. Sedat, the owner, was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent. Thanks also to Mrs. Nurcan, who invited us in while we were walking past.

We had a lovely time here, and Mr. Sedat, the hotel owner, made us feel very welcome. It’s a clean boutique hotel right in the middle of the old Town. I’d definitely recommend it.
