The workers were really sweet and did everything they could to make us happy, and I did enjoy parts of the stay. Still, after paying over $2,800 for four nights, I expected a much better experience. Think carefully before booking, since there are lots of other villas and places around. The location is great, right in the center of Baghdad Street, with cafes, bars, restaurants, and supermarkets nearby. There’s even a cafe just behind the villa’s doorstep. When we arrived, though, there wasn’t much inside. We had to buy our own water, groceries, and even bathroom wipes. There was no room service or cleaning, and nobody changed the sheets or cleaned or replaced the towels. There were ants everywhere from the first night. The coffee machine had no capsules, filters, or other supplies, so I got some at the market. When I opened it, I found an old, rotten, dirty filter inside that looked as if it hadn’t been changed in months. The pool was a bit dirty on the second day, though manageable. After swimming, we found there was no hot water because the heater wasn’t working. The staff said it would be fixed in a couple of hours while we were out. That night the water stopped completely for over two hours. On the third day the heater failed again, and we had to shower in freezing water. I raised this with the staff, manager, and owner and said they should at least refund one night. The owner refused, apologized, and offered a complimentary breakfast for the next day, which I declined. The house needs more maintenance. All the bathrooms were rusty, the kitchen supplies were old, cabinet doors were broken, and some electrical plugs were broken too.
