We were a group of 46 SSC Tour tourists, and honestly it wasn't as bad as the very negative reviews made it sound. The lobby was small, so getting our cards at first was a bit awkward. The main hassle was the tiny elevator. You have to climb stairs just to reach it, which is hard with luggage, and two adults, one child, and two suitcases barely fit. There was no weight limit, but with a tour group the queue stretched outside the door. We were nervous when we arrived because we'd searched the hotel name and read all the bad reviews beforehand. People said things like the bed came out of the toilet and the towels only looked clean but were really dirty. But we didn't find those extra restrictions or problems. I can't say it was perfectly clean, though it was clean enough, with no visible hair or anything like that. The bathroom was large, with a toilet and sink. Bring your own soap if you don't use liquid soap. We left very early, and they prepared food for us. We expected maybe bread and cheese, but there were fried potatoes, three kinds of eggs, three kinds of cheese, tea, cornflakes, and more. Later we had a lottery. The only issue was keeping hold of the key. They checked it very carefully when we wanted it back, so you have to hand it in. Then we checked out. We were okay, it wasn't too bad.

A total fiasco. The place was unbelievably dirty, and the service was zero. The elevator didn't even start at the entrance, but from the floor above, and the lobby staff just stood around and never helped with luggage. Several packaged cheeses at breakfast were past their expiration dates.

We came with SSC Tour and this hotel was awful. Our fifth floor room had bird droppings on the bathroom ceiling, a broken lock, and bedbugs. We have allergies, so we asked to change rooms and have pest control done, but they said the hotel was full. When we said we couldn't stay, they showed us rooms on the fourth and first floors. The fourth floor was just as bad, so we were forced into a first floor room. Its sheets were stained and hadn't been washed or changed. We couldn't sleep or shower all night, watching for insects. Spraying for an hour won't fix it, the floors need to be shut down completely. It was beyond disgusting. Absolutely don't come here.

The helpful staff couldn't do much about the state of the rooms. Wallpaper was peeling and sagging, and as for cleanliness, forget it. The breakfast selection was decent, but when the bagels or pastries ran out, you had to ask. Someone would run to the bakery next door for more, then the same thing happened again once those were gone. It's a strange place and the location didn't feel very safe. By Newton is a different hotel, and I suspect the positive reviews are probably for By Newton. Would I stay here again in Urfa? Absolutely not.

The staff were so attentive that I felt right at home. My wife and I stayed two nights, and the place was clean and the breakfast delicious. This will be the only place I stay when I come to Urfa.
