Metinoğlu Pansiyon (Chalet Khione) Sarıkamış Hotel

The hotel is far from the mountain, and the ski gear is limited and in poor condition. Dinner was the same kind of meal, and if you didn't like it, you went hungry. Breakfast was just cheese and olives left over from sahur, and even the tea was cold. When we asked, they said there was nothing they could do because it was left from sahur. The place seems to be run by three or five children, while the manager only shows up around once a day. When I asked why I'd paid for half-board instead of just a room, they absurdly said they'd make it up at dinner. After a lot of difficulty, they did give me a discount on the ski equipment. They do help with transport from Kars to Sarıkamış, but I’d advise people to stay away.

I had a peaceful, quiet room overlooking the snow, and the rooms were generally clean. I had no problems with things like hot water, and the hotel felt like good value for money. The staff were attentive and welcoming. Thanks to Mr. Abdullah for helping with the booking, Mr. Faruk for picking me up at the airport and arranging the transfer, and Mr. Emre for greeting me at the hotel and helping with everything so kindly. I’m also grateful to Chef Mahsun and Ms. Ayyüce at the front desk for their hospitality.

I stayed for two weeks and my room was never cleaned. It had a metal bed. In the cafeteria, people drink whatever they can find. There were no staff at all during suhoor, so we prepared the meal ourselves.

We had a reservation but were put in a different hotel because this one had no room. A day later, they put us through the same trouble again, saying that hotel was full and they'd move us somewhere else. For a few days of skiing, don't book here just because it's cheap. We travel across the country for a ski holiday once a year, and this was unacceptable. A low price doesn't mean we should get bad service. The rooms were filthy and the dining hall was completely unhygienic. At breakfast they served the same salad from dinner, and it had a terrible onion smell. The management was hopeless. One or two young employees were left to do everything, so of course things weren't done well. This hotel really doesn't suit the beautiful ski atmosphere in Sarıkamış and puts people off. Not everyone should be in the tourism business.
