Rustik Konak Sirince

My wife and I booked a room for one night, but ended up leaving around 11:30 PM and sleeping in the car. While we were in bed, something large flew around the room, and strange flapping noises woke us. After our experience with the February 6th earthquake in Maraş, even small noises scare us. We couldn’t find what it was. The woman helping us said it might be a fly or cicada since it was a village house, but guests should be warned or precautions taken. Something else could have got in and hurt us. This isn’t normal when you’re paying for a service. We weren’t even refunded, and I also didn’t think the room had been cleaned properly. We’re hugely disappointed.

For the price, this is a good option, and the breakfast was very good. I stayed one night with breakfast in this small boutique building, which has 3-4 rooms. The room was a little dusty and I had trouble getting hot water. It’s a village house, so keep your expectations modest.

We booked through ETS and called ahead to say we’d arrive late. Good thing we did, because they told us our room had been given to someone else. After a frantic attempt to cancel, somehow they assigned it to us, but the bed was covered in hair and felt completely unhygienic. I doubt the sheets had been washed. Someone said they’d bring coffee, then left, and nobody came back. If you’re planning to stay in Şirince, I’d go see the rooms before booking, unless you’re after a luxury mansion.

We stayed three days and two nights, and that was enough to leave us happy. My wife, our four-year-old son and I had the smallest room, which was clean and came with a toilet, air conditioning, a closet and a TV. The owners were cheerful, attentive and very welcoming. Just so you know, the place used to have a different name and is now called Hasgül Konak. I’d definitely recommend it.
