Ramada by Wyndham Istanbul Sile

Our air conditioner was broken, and when we reported it, nobody came to repair it. The room also wasn’t clean enough.

I paid a deposit after booking, then asked to get it back an hour later because of my mother's health problems. The hotel refused to cancel and return the money, even though it hadn’t issued me a voucher. I’m preparing formal complaints with all the evidence for the highest authorities in the hotel chain. I’ve also heard that the hotel is old, dirty, and in deplorable condition. The staff I dealt with were unprofessional, disrespectful, and poorly trained. Avoid this disgraceful place if you don’t want your holiday ruined.

The shower was alright, and I slept well in a clean room with good air conditioning and a comfortable bed. The TV is old with no HDMI connection, though, and there’s only one hanger. The service team seemed poorly trained, and the restaurant staff wear whatever they like. Breakfast was decent Turkish fare with an egg counter. If you’re just looking for a place to rest after spending time at a nice beach like Aqua Beach, this is one of the closest hotels.

We picked Ramada Wyndham for the April Ramadan Bayram holiday because we wanted time away from the city, and thought the name meant a reliable, safe stay. That confidence didn’t last. Our room was dirty, with hairs on a towel, dust on the curtains, and a poorly cleaned shower. We complained to the manager and got a changed, upgraded room, but it was still dusty. We were also disappointed to learn the indoor pool was closed for maintenance. That wasn’t mentioned when we booked or on the website, and we wouldn’t have chosen the hotel if we’d known. At dinner, a large group of elderly guests had a celebration with live music at the long table by the lobby. The ground-floor area was enclosed, with very loud music and chatter, and everyone was smoking. There was no ventilation and it reeked of cigarettes. It felt like a tacky, cheap motel bar, and we wondered whether that fit Ramada by Wyndham’s international franchise policies. It seemed to be run like someone’s private playground, with no professionalism or standards. Given the many negative complaints here, I think the franchise should be investigated for whether it follows the rules and maintains Ramada Wyndham standards worldwide. No one greeted us or helped with our luggage when we arrived. The revolving door wasn’t working, so we had to push it ourselves, and there was still nobody around. We’ll look into the smoking situation and make sure it reaches head office. Avoid this place.
