The host was cheerful and friendly, and I'm grateful to Mr. Hakan. Everything was immaculate, from the bed and towels to the bathroom and toilet. I took a sea-view photo from my room window and added it.

The bathroom and toilet share one room, with no shower cabin. After showering, water collects on the floor and makes the toilet hard to use, and there wasn't even a squeegee. At least the hot water worked fine. Breakfast was another downside for me. I'd prefer a buffet so people can serve themselves. We stayed as a family for three days in August and paid 2000 TL per day. We knew it had a student dorm setup. The apartment is near the university and, if you have a car, not too far from town. The sea view is refreshing. It was extremely hot on the first day, though, and we couldn't sleep comfortably. Unfortunately, there was no way to deal with the heat.
The rooms, beds, and linens were very clean, and ours was spacious and airy with a sea view from the road side. I didn't notice any problems with the staff. Breakfast is included, but keep your expectations modest. There's no air conditioning in the rooms, which could be an issue for rooms on other floors or facing other directions. There are plenty of things one could criticize, but for the price, this is about the level of service available in Sinop. It's reasonably priced for the local market, though I wouldn't call it cheap. We picked it in a hurry for one night in Sinop because our schedule was tight. It's far from the city center, so you'll likely need a car to get there. If you don't expect too much, it's a quiet and economical option for families.
For what it costs, I thought this place was a five-star deal. It's the cheapest hostel in Sinop, and people seem to expect luxury service from what is basically a simple student dorm or house. I stayed here because it was modest and everything was a short drive away. Breakfast was basic but filling, and the staff were very polite and clean. I don't understand the negative comments from people who seem to expect more than tea and bagels.
The room we got was tiny, with two single beds pushed together to pass as a double. You can ask to move to another room and pay the difference, which doesn't seem like too much to ask :)) They use the girls' dormitory during summer, apparently. Also, they won't take a phone reservation unless you've paid first.
