We only learned how bad the smoke smell was after paying. It was all through the building, not just the room: the mattress, bedding, pillows, towels, curtains, even the walls reeked of tobacco. That’s unhygienic and unpleasant, and could have serious health effects. I wouldn’t let children sleep there. In a five-story building with dozens of rooms, it’s hard to understand why there isn’t even one non-smoking floor or a few smoke-free rooms. It should be the other way around. There was a “No Smoking” sign with an ashtray right below it. If we’d known, we wouldn’t have stayed. The owners should clearly tell guests this place isn’t suitable for non-smokers.
