Double Tree by Hilton Trabzon

We had to pay everything upfront for three nights, and there was a separate deposit for room service. At checkout, they asked us to pay the room service bill separately instead of taking it from that deposit. It’s been a month and they still haven’t released the hold, saying there’s a technical issue with the bank. We had two rooms with kids and were charged extra separately for four children. The management seems to me like it’s desperately trying to milk customers.

We had to find somewhere else to stay after our booking was cancelled two weeks before arrival. Nobody told us, and vio.com hadn’t been informed either, so the reservation still showed as active on their side. Reception was dismissive and didn’t explain what had happened. We suspect it may have been connected to a Turkish super lig football team staying at the hotel.

The terrace was my favorite, and relaxing to the sound of the sea was lovely. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and breakfast was very good. For me, this is the best hotel in Trabzon, with a 10/10 location. I’ll stay here again and again next time.

The room situation was a mess from the start. We were first put in a smoking room on a smoking floor, even though we hadn’t asked for it and none of us smoke. We have a three-year-old, so we refused it. The replacement room lacked basic amenities, and we had to call for every single item. We were also told we couldn’t bring in outside food, which felt like a way to make everyone order from the restaurant. We’d booked ten days at DoubleTree Trabzon and paid the full amount in advance. On arrival, the welcome was shockingly hostile, like we’d shown up uninvited at their house late at night. Everyone seemed mad and nobody smiled. I’ve stayed at Hilton properties around the world, and this was nothing like a five-star hotel. It was the worst experience I’ve had in Trabzon. I contacted PR, and although she tried to come across as helpful, nothing was actually done. After I’d given up, she asked what would make the stay better. I requested breakfast in our room because of a medical condition. Breakfast was included in our reservation, but then she disappeared without doing anything or even replying. Please save your money and find another hotel that treats guests to a high standard. This was unfortunately my worst experience ever.
