Diplomat Hotel

We ate at the restaurant below the hotel twice, first on arrival and then again the next day, and the food was delicious. The staff paid such close attention and made us feel at home. This cozy, quaint place felt like the kind of hotel you read about in novels, and it was just what I wanted in an authentic Turkish Mediterranean town. I hope we get to come back and try their suites across the street. I’ve become more sensitive to where I sleep, so next time I’ll bring my own soft pillow. Already missing Turunç.

The food at the hotel is great, with a modern Turkish style. As of May '25, the new Diplomat Suites block across the road has attractive self-catering apartments with good facilities. They still need more work and attention to detail, though. The entrance stairs are slippery and have no handrails, and the bakery/cafe wasn't operating yet. There was also building noise, which was expected to be over by the end of May '25. Buyer beware!

Breakfast was a good buffet with high-quality food and filtered coffee. The hotel beach was decent, and the sea was clear, though the entry is rocky and you have to bring your own towels. The rooms were fairly clean, and the sound insulation was decent even with karaoke and a live music bar across the street. Noise stopped at 12. Tap water was a little salty, but it seems to be that way throughout Turunç. They only provide shampoo, so shower gel and maybe slippers would be useful, along with beach towels. Still, I’d recommend the place and would stay again.

We only went for lunch, but the food was so good that we came back for dinner the next day. It was our favourite place to eat in Turunc. Right on the waterfront, too, with a nice spot for people watching, friendly staff and great service. It was a bit off season, so the atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. Wish we’d stayed here!
