Meric Hotel Turunc

The pool bar was a real highlight. The staff were extremely friendly, the cocktails were genuinely good, and the music had a nice mix. It was the first time we actually enjoyed cocktails at a 4-star hotel in Turkey. We did find it frustrating that the bar shut for cleaning from 7-8 PM, just when we wanted a drink before dinner. We had a great holiday despite going in with modest expectations for a budget hotel. We were upgraded on arrival to a spacious room with a partial sea view, a double bed and a single bed. With just two of us, we pushed the beds together and still had plenty of space. Cleanliness was poor both when we arrived and during our stay. We only let housekeeping in twice, to change towels and take out rubbish. The beach is very small for the number of guests. For the first two days we couldn't find space, as people left towels on sunbeds early and didn't come back until noon. The water gets deep immediately, so it may be difficult for anyone who can't swim. In August, the mountain blocks the sun on the beach after 5:15 PM. The sea itself was clear, very clean, and completely calm. The restaurant is small and can get crowded. There was enough to eat and the food tasted good, especially the yogurts, though the coffee was awful. I switched to Turkish tea, and we bought hot chocolate at the market because the machine's hot chocolate setting only gave us water. There are two elevators, but they move very slowly for a 10-floor hotel. The place generally wasn't very clean, and cats even wandered into the restaurant. I know Turks love animals, but I don't think they belong in there. The good points for us were the private beach, internet throughout the hotel that actually worked, helpful and friendly staff, decent food, spacious rooms with a lovely peaceful view, and air conditioning. We felt comfortable and would consider coming back.

The food was excellent and had lots of variety, and I owe the chef an apology for forgetting to ask for the pilaf recipe. Thanks as well to the kitchen team and to Muhammad, who was always kind and smiling. The young staff made the stay enjoyable despite a rough first impression. The rooms were the real problem. There was a mouldy smell, the room wasn't hygienic, and the bathroom was so dirty I had to clean it before using it. With some effort, the place could be a proper 4-star hotel: it's in a beautiful spot with wonderful scenery, and the staff work hard. But the owner needs to get involved. The room cleanliness deserves a 1, even being generous, and I only saw three women working during our whole stay, so I suspect there aren't enough cleaners. A coat of lime on the walls doesn't cover the mould or cracks, and the furniture and air conditioning need attention too. The air conditioning barely works anymore. The pool bar guys were so good. We spent hours chatting and had a lovely time getting to know them. ISO, the eternal lover 😍, and Kadır, who makes the best cocktails 😘😘... Recep knows his nickname 😜😝. If I come back to Turunc, I'd be happy to see these wonderful people again. Until then, I wish you all a wonderful life 😘😘😘.

The elevators stopped working while my children and I were inside, and we were trapped for more than 10 minutes. There were no cameras in the lift, so nobody knew we were stuck. It was frightening, especially for the children, who were traumatised. The breakfast wasn't good, and the rooms weren't as clean as I expected. I had a really bad stay and would never return or recommend this hotel.

Dear, We stayed at your hotel last week and came away very disappointed. The staff were kind, but the food was awful. Breakfast was the same every day, cheese, salad, and boiled eggs, with four kinds of fruit and just as many cakes. There were no pastries, only bread. The only good meal was kebab on one day. We've been to Turkey before, but this kind of all-inclusive service was unlike anywhere else we've experienced. Regards
