Duven Hotel Cappadocia

I'm travelling from Germany with my family of five. We're staying at another hotel, but we've eaten here twice. We may have arrived a bit late both times, since there weren't many people dining, but the service was still good. Today my little sister and I ordered the Schnitzel we'd had yesterday. A different server brought a different menu, and I assumed Schnitzel meant chicken, something pan-fried. It turned out to be completely different. I explained what happened to the owner, who was kind about it and let us take the food we didn't want to eat to go, then made us a Schnitzel :> They also let me pay half in cash and half by card. I wanted to use some cash for souvenirs but didn't want to accidentally have Turkish money left over, so that was another plus.

The room was clean, the shower worked fine, and the breakfast was very tasty. The staff were friendly too. The hotel has its own terrace for watching the balloons, and Chitang Palace is just a minute's walk away. We had a room .... with a gorgeous view of the Cappadocia valley from the windows.

I was here in late January 2023, and loved the place. The room was beautiful, clean, and well maintained, though the safety lock didn't work. Breakfast was OUTSTANDING, and I ate so much. The service was great. I had a long chat with Mr Ahmet at the front desk about travelling in Turkey, and he and the rest of the staff were so nice to us, especially the woman at the breakfast tables. The location was perfect, with surreal views and nearby restaurants. And I got to see snow falling for the first time from my hotel room window :)

The Red Tour was a nice experience, and there was a good choice of activities. We were charged more for paying by card, which they said was because of bank fees. That didn't seem fair to me. We hadn't chosen this hotel ourselves, it was part of an agency package, and I really wouldn't recommend it. The location is great, but the rooftop music can be too loud if you want some quiet after a full day. We had a standard room, which was just that, with an okay bed. It wasn't cleaned every day. On the second day the cleaning staff came, and we had to ask for fresh towels. It didn't seem like that was planned. Breakfast isn't continental, and you have to ask for coffee or juice. Only Turkish coffee is included, not Americano or espresso, and the waitress didn't explain that. Those cost 150 TL, and fresh juice costs extra too. Breakfast starts at 8:30, which isn't practical for early risers or an early flight. We asked at check-in if they could arrange something for our early departure. Reception agreed, but nothing was ready when we checked out. Don't expect much of a greeting or a smile from the staff. They seemed busy on their smartphones.
