Hu of Cappadocia Boutique-hotel

The cave rooms felt magical, and Hu of Cappadocia was such a lovely, romantic experience. The owner was very accommodating, and the staff were lovely throughout. Our waitresses were professional and kind at breakfast and lunch, then again at our late lunch and dinners. We’ll remember the stay fondly.

The hotel interior is beautiful, and most of the staff were lovely. Mohammed on the night shift was a dream. Still, several problems with our room and the way our last night was handled put a damper on the end of our trip. Our small, old room was on a terrace directly across from the restaurant. The sheets didn’t fit the bed, there were cobwebs, and we had no hand towels or bath mat. The front door wouldn’t close fully, and another occupant could enter through an internal door. They were incredibly loud on our first night. When we asked to move, we were told the hotel was full, so we made the best of it. On our last night, the restaurant was set up for some kind of conference or party. Braziers with fires were placed right outside our room, and smoke got into the room through the door that didn’t seal, getting into our hair and clothes. When we complained, we were told there was a party “every Saturday night” until about 1200am and advised to open the door to air the room out. That didn’t seem workable with 45 people about to be right outside and the braziers still there. They eventually offered to move us, but made it sound like we were causing them trouble. The new room was beautiful, but it was already 7pm, and packing up then wasn’t how we’d imagined spending our last night. We were disappointed by the lack of action and that no gesture was offered for the inconvenience.

The location deserves 100/100, right behind Uchisar castle with a view across the whole valley. We watched an amazing sunrise with hot air balloons in the sky. Breakfast was included and quite good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in a spacious family room with twin beds and a king bed on a loft. We had the kids sleep up there and took the twin beds ourselves. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it.

The staff treated us well over our two days. They helped with all our luggage, assisted with a hotel booking, and even provided breakfast because we were leaving early. The room wasn’t what I expected. It was large, as was the bathroom, but our second-floor cave room had no ventilation and no sunlight. I understand it’s a cave room, but it should have some ventilation. They gave us one fan to bring outside air in, but the air inside couldn’t get out. Breakfast had only one vegetarian option, French fries, and just one watermelon for fruit. If you’re vegetarian, it’s going to be hard.
